Ref. No. DIN/53/2009 17 Sep 2010
WATER SUPPLY
Despite the management Committee’s best efforts to provide the residents with uninterrupted supply of satisfactory quality of water, we have been unable to do so as the DDA only provides one to two hours of water supply per day.
As a consequence, the Society has had to resort to getting tankers from the DDA and private parties as well as pumping water from the bore wells in an attempt to meet the residents’ demand for 24 hours supply of water. Even this has been an exercise in futility.
Residents may please note that the underground water is extremely brackish and liable to cause severe health problems like skin rashes and hair loss.
The only solution to meet our requirement of clean water relatively free contamination is to get more water from private parties (DDA only supplies one water tanker per day)who charge Rs. 700/- to Rs. 900/- per tanker. The Society’s daily requirement is estimated to be six to eight tankers amounting to Rs. 600/- to Rs. 800/- per flat per month.
In order to enable the Management Committee to proceed in the matter, any resident who has objections to payment as given above, may kindly intimate his / her objections to the undersigned in writing.
Non receipt of objections will be considered as agreement to the above proposal for procurement of water on payment from the DDA and private parties and the cost accordingly charged to residents.

Subject: PROPOSED WASTAGE OF `15,93,600 PER ANNUM TO MEET WATER REQUIREMENTS THROUGH PRIVATE TANKERS
Dear Sir
With reference to your notice dated 17th September 2010 pasted outside the lifts, I need to express my strongest reservations and protest against the proposal of purchasing water from private vendors at an estimated annual price of approx `16 lakh (at today’s prices which are bound to rise further) due to following reasons.
1. It would be wiser to spent this amount in implementing a permanent solution in the form of
a. a deeper bore well
b. installing water treatment plant (RO/ion exchange)
c. laying separate supply lines for flushes (which can be fed with waste water from RO plant (Over half of the `16 lakh spent on pvt tankers will be flushed to the commodes).
2. The quality of water supplied through private owned and operated tankers is always doubtful. Often the source is often as unhygienic as neighbourhood drain (you may check the filters of your water purifiers for indications). The contaminants include heavy metals, industrial waste, decomposing domestic, human and animal waste etc. As such the overall quality of water from our own bore well is far better except for higher mineral contents. Please note that TDS is not the only factor influencing the quality.
3. Needless to say the water from pvt tankers is far more harmful to health than water from our own bore well.
4. Supply of water from pvt takers is a well organized corruption. Please do not make us a party to it. (This water is not sourced from outside Delhi. why can’t the same be supplied by authorities to citizens of Delhi through pipelines laid with tax payers money. These tankers are also largely responsible for pot-holes in Dwarka roads).
5. We as residents need long term solution, keeping all factors in mind, as investment to secure present and future, rather than short term wasteful ways especially the one which make us party to rampant corruption.
In view of above I once again record my protest and at the same time, request our elected office bearers to stop wasting residents’ hard earned money on buying dirty water from private parties.
With regards
Yours sincerely
